Yavapai College operates two art galleries, the Prescott Art Gallery and the Verde Art Gallery. Both maintain a diverse range of visual art exhibitions featuring nationally recognized artists and emerging artists alike, providing opportunities for the presentation of art in all media. 

 

The Prescott Art Gallery is located within the Performing Arts Center on the Yavapai Campus in Prescott, Arizona. This is an attractive space with high ceilings and 1792 sq/ft of exhibition space with a moveable wall system and LED track lighting. 

 

The Verde Art Gallery is located on the Verde Valley campus in Clarkdale, Arizona. This gallery has a variable height ceiling with track lighting and is 900 sq/ft. 

 

Both galleries are easily accessible and visited by many students, community members and out of ­town visitors.

Call for Art: Portraits of Freedom 

The Patty McMullen-Mikles Art Gallery invites submissions for portrait artwork exploring the faces of freedom. What does freedom look like? Through portraiture, we ask artists to explore the people, identities, histories, and imagined figures that embody freedom. Portraits may be realistic, abstract, symbolic, or experimental — all interpretations are welcome. Selected works will be exhibited in the Patty McMullen-Mikles Art Gallery, A Space for Freedom exhibition, highlighting the diverse ways freedom is represented through the human face and form.

Submission Guidelines

·  Eligible Media: Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media,

·  Mailed artwork will be accepted. Yavapai College does not pay for shipping or insurance. 

·  Include with submission: artist name, title, medium, dimensions, price, and brief statement (optional)

·  $10 entry fee per piece of artwork raises funds for monetary awards. 

·  Max 3 entries per Artists  

Art must be adequately framed, wired, and ready to hang (no saw tooth or loop hangers). Gallery wraps are acceptable provided they are at least 1/2 inch deep and are painted on all four sides. Three-dimensional work is not to exceed 40 lbs. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 40-inches in width and height.

Terms and Conditions

Artists will need to deliver artwork to the gallery on the specified date. If delivery cannot be made on drop off date, prior arrangements must be made with gallery manager. Mailed Art will be accepted with prior arrangement with gallery manager. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, insurance and providing a return label. All artwork selected for the exhibition will be photographed by the college. The YC Art Gallery retains a 25% commission on all works sold. Sold work remains in gallery during the entire exhibition. Payments are made to artists at the close of the exhibition. Works to be included and their installation will be at the discretion of the Gallery Manager. YC reserves the right to reject works that were not properly prepared for instillation. YC reserves the right to reject work that is deemed fragile or unstable. ** All Artwork must be labeled clearly with artist name on the back or bottom. *

Call for Art: Freedom in Three Dimensions 

The Patty McMullen-Mikles Art Gallery invites submissions for an upcoming exhibition exploring the theme of Freedom through three-dimensional works. We are seeking sculpture, ceramics, fiber art, mixed media, and other 3D practices that give physical form to the many meanings of freedom—personal, political, cultural, spiritual, or environmental. Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery presents

The 2026 Young Artists' Showcase: A Juried High School Exhibition

February 27 - March 27, 2026

Opening Reception: Friday, February 27, 5pm to 7pm, Awards at 6pm

The exhibition provides high school students with the opportunity to experience the submission and jury process and to present their artwork in a professional fine art gallery, while receiving recognition for their accomplishments from professionals in the field.

We are looking for original artwork created within the last year by high school students in Yavapai County and the surrounding area. Students may submit up to two entries in any media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, jewelry, photography, fiber, clay, metal, ceramics, and sculpture.

 Important Dates:

Online Submissions Start: Monday, January 5, 2026

Online Submissions End:  Thursday, February 5, 11:59 pm

Artist Notification:  Monday, February 9

Deliver Accepted Artwork to YC Prescott Art Gallery:  Saturday, February 21, 2026, 10am to 2pm

Awards: 

Awards will be given out for Best of Show 2D & Best of Show 3D, both of which come with a scholarship to take one art class at Yavapai College. Certificates will also be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention winners in the following categories: Drawing, Painting, Digital Art, Sculpture/3D.

  The Rules:

- All art must be original.

- No A.I. art accepted.

- Works on paper must be framed behind glass or plastic and wired for hanging.

- Works on canvas must be gallery-wrapped and wired for hanging.

- All other hanging devices such as sawtooth are not acceptable.

- Wall artwork should not exceed 35 - 40 lbs. 

- Digital artworks will be displayed on monitors for exhibition.

- 3D artwork must be ready for install, finished presentation.

2026 Juror: Chelsea Stone, Artist and Jewlery Faculty at YC Prescott

Chelsea Stone’s current jewelry focuses on volume, color, pattern, and play with an infused pinch of humor to her often narrative designs.  Her work combines traditional media such as copper, silver, enamel, and gemstones with nontraditional materials such as resin, plastics, cement, inks, image transfers, and found objects.  Chelsea graduated with a BFA in Metals with a Business minor from Northern Arizona University and completed her MFA in Jewelry with a Sculpture minor from Texas Tech University.  She has taught at NAU, Texas Tech, Yavapai College, and themed classes in her private studio.  Her work has been shown/sold in over 50 galleries nationwide.

Art for the Yavapai College Peace Summit (April 2026 )

 

Yavapai College’s Respect Campaign and Justice Institute are co-hosting a Peace Summit on Thursday April 2 and Friday April 3, 2026. This event will create a venue for the different constituencies of the Yavapai College and wider Quad Cities communities to coalesce around important values such as mutuality, open-mindedness, empathy, and courteous conversation. It is our hope that such a gathering will be an effective and cathartic opportunity to employ healing and unity to undermine divisiveness.

 

Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery, the YC Respect Campaign, and the YC Justice Institute seek original artwork on the theme of “Peace.”

 

All accepted work will be displayed in YC Building 3, Room 119, during the two-day Peace Summit. After the Peace Summit, the artwork will travel to the a Prescott community gallery TBA.

 Paintings, drawings, printmaking, textiles, and small sculptures will be considered. All artwork must relate to theme of “Peace.”

The exhibition will be juried by Dr. Brandelyn Andres, YC Art History Professor.

Submissions Open: Friday, October 24, 2025

Submit up to two original artworks.

Submissions End: Friday, March 13, 2026, 11:59 pm

Artist Notification: Wednesday, March 18.

All accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to the YC Prescott Art Gallery by Tuesday, April 1, between 10am-3pm.

Wall artwork should not exceed 40 lbs
